Game 47: Jets vs. Flames pre-game report

The Jets and Flames are both coming off their five-day break.  Winnipeg came in on a two-game losing streak while Calgary was at the other end of the spectrum having won seven straight games.

Morning skate:

No morning skate today with an afternoon contest.  Projected lines and D pairs based on yesterday’s practice.  We did learn plenty from yesterday’s skate in terms of health updates from coach Maurice.

Health news:

Coach Maurice confirmed that goalie Steve Mason had suffered a concussion.  This is the second time this season that Mason has suffered this injury.  Adam Lowry spoke following skate in Winnipeg on Friday and indicated that he will be watching both games this weekend but he is coming along and thinks he is “a bit of a ways away”.  Coach Maurice said he is hopeful the California trip is an option for Lowry.  With respect to Shawn Matthias Jets bench boss Paul Maurice indicated that he is “day-to-day, we don’t think it is overly significant but it didn’t progress how we had hoped over the week.”  While Mark Scheifele isn’t expected for awhile coach Maurice said “He is doing well.  Coming a long.  But he’s still in the middle of his time frame so he is right where we think he should be.”.
