Sure enough a kid from Calgary ended the game as Josh Morrissey’s fourth of the season in OT sent Jets fans home happy with a 5-4 OT win. Morrissey’s goal improves Winnipeg to 20-9-2 on the season.

1st:
– The Oilers took advantage of a Jack Roslovic turnover in the Jets zone to open the scoring;
– On the power play Mathieu Perreault made a series of nifty moves to tie the game;
– 1:08 later Nikolaj Ehlers, perhaps trying to make a slap pass to 33, banked in the go ahead goal off an Oilers D man.
– Jets outshot the Oilers 16-11 after 20 minutes.
2nd:
– Dustin Byfuglien made a few nice plays and eventually got the puck to Patrik Laine who powered it home;
– The Oilers got within one when Nurse put the rebound past Connor Hellebuyck;
– They tied it up when Jesse Puljujarvi puts the puck on net and it deflects off Khaira’s leg and in.
– With Patrik Laine in the box, McDavid found Chiasson and the Oilers held a 4-3 lead;
– Oilers outshot the Jets 13-6 and have a 24-22 shot edge after 40 minutes.
3rd:
– Winnipeg came out in the final frame with a number of chances to equalize the game;
– Eventually, who else, but Blake Wheeler finding Mark Scheifele to tie the game with 10:02 left in the period;
– Jets held a 15-2 shot edge over the Oilers with 8:25 left in the period;
– They held the Oilers to just two shots in the final frame;
– Overall the Jets outshot the Oilers 17-2 and took a 39-26 shot edge into OT.
OT:
– Excellent chance early but Connor McDavid rang it off the post;
– Josh Morrissey took the Scheifele touch pass and fired it past Talbot.
Notable:
– Fun fact Winnipeg is now is 10-4-0 when the opposing team scores first.
