The Jets win their sixth game in the last seven as they beat the Hawks 6-3 tonight at Bell MTS Place to improve to 19-9-2 on the season.

For those who would like to take a deeper dive into the advanced stats here are the results from tonight’s game via Natural Stat Trick.

Game play:

1st:
– Not sure anyone expected that opening period of hockey as Winnipeg absolutely dominated Chicago;
– Scheifele tipped home a Byfuglien point shot to open the scoring on the power play;
– On the 10th shot of the period for the Jets Tyler Myers blasted home a shot to make it 2-0;
– Kyle Connor dipsy and dangled his way to the third goal of the period which gave Winnipeg a 13-0 shot edge;
– The first Hawks shot game with 2:25 left in the first period;
– Shots ended in favour of Winnipeg as you would expect 15-5 and the home side held a 3-0 lead;

2nd:
– Jets opened the middle frame with a strong start which saw Brandon Tanev draw a penalty;
– Winnipeg capitalized for second time on the PP with Kyle Connor’s second of the game to make it 4-0;
– Hawks wouldn’t go away however and the visitors scored twice to make it a much closer contest after 40;
– Cam Ward made several sensational saves including stopping what would have been a Kyle Connor hat trick;

3rd:
– The Jets looked like they would regain the momentum in the final frame as they got an early PP chance;
– Instead it is the Hawks who end up scoring shortly thereafter on a weak goal to make it a one goal game;
– Mathieu Perreault added a third Jets power play goal to give them some breathing space at 5-3;
– Brandon Tanev scored with 4.8 seconds to go into the empty net to finish off this contest.

Notable:

– Mark Scheifele scored his 17th of the season (he is now just four behind Patrik Laine for team lead);
– Tyler Myers scored in back to back games;
– Kyle Connor scored in back to back games;

Numbers:

– Dustin Byfuglien had 3A (16, 17, 18)
– Kyle Connor had 2G (12, 13);
– Mark Scheifele had 1G (17) and 1A (20);
– Tyler Myers had 1G (3) and 1A (5).
