It was anything but a better start for the Jets as the Senators jumped out to a 2-0 lead to start the game which was only cut by a late Adam Lowry tally. Jets were outshot 18-9 in 1st.
The Sens regained the two goal lead until Blake Wheeler found Kyle Connor who wasn’t gonna miss the opportunity he had on the power play.
The 3rd wasn’t looking so good for the Jets but with the net empty the Jets tied the game on a Josh Morrissey blast which was tipped by Blake Wheeler to tie the game with 1:17 left in the final frame. (While the goal has been credited to 44, Wheeler post-game said he got a stick on it so it will likely be changed by the NHL).
This one would need OT and speedster Nikolaj Ehlers would end it off a nice 2 on 1 pass from Andrew Copp to give the Jets their second 4-3 OT win of the season as they improve to 2-1-0 on the season. (Update: Ehlers response in his post-game availability for when he scored his last OT winner was hilarious).
