You want offence from the defence…you got it. Neal Pionk, an absolute bullet, his second of the game, to give the Jets a 4-3 victory. What a shot in transition, set up by Mason Appleton winning a d-zone puck battle.

Notable:
It was Dylan DeMelo’s 400th game in the NHL.
Quite a journey for Jets 2015 6th rounder Mason Appleton who began his pro career on the 4th line of the Manitoba Moose. Worked his way to the 1st line in first season and was named AHL’s outstanding rookie. Now he finds himself on the 1st line of the Jets.
Veteran forward Sam Gagner showing he’s a force on PP2 with a goal.
Team wanted more offence from the defence and that’s what they got on the second goal as Neil Pionk buried a Mason Appleton drop pass.
Blake Wheeler was asked if he needed to tell Cole Perfetti to shoot more. He said nah you don’t want to get in his head. Turns out he didn’t need to. Just make a great pass to the rookie and let him finish it off which we saw on the third Jets goal.
While the Jets did blow a two goal lead they played a solid 3rd period not giving the Avs much in the way of quality chances which in turn gave themselves a chance for OT.
Bold strategy to start Adam Lowry, Mason Appleton and Neal Pionk. Not sure anyone would have guessed that this trio would be the starters in extra time.
Multi point game:
Neil Pionk 2G
Cole Perfetti 1G 1A
Mason Appleton 2A
