Game 29: Red Wings 4 Jets 3 in SO post-game report

Quick Recap:

The Jets looked like giant killers after 20 minutes.  They had a 3-1 lead and were dominating in the shot department by a 16-7 margin.  Copp scored against the team he grew up cheering for, Byfuglien scored his 100th goal for Winnipeg and Patrik Laine got goal number 17 on the season.

The second period was one Jets fans have become all too accustomed to with the home side giving up two goals to allow Detroit to tie it up after 40.

The Jets entered the final frame down a forward as the team announced Alexander Burmistrov would not return to the game. The third period wasn’t much better for Winnipeg than the middle frame as they didn’t have a shot until there was approximately eight minutes to go in the final frame.  Nikolaj Ehlers continues to be snakebitten as he had a number of breakaway chances but couldn’t convert them.  Good chances for both sides in OT solved nothing and then it was off to the shootout. Despite a beauty from Patrik Laine (see below) the Wings scored twice and got the two points in the come from behind victory.

Paul Mauirce:  Where did it go wrong in the 2nd?  Was it the Wings experience that brought them back into that game?  Was it case of playing a full 60 minutes?  Status of Burmistrov?  Does he say anything to Nikolaj Ehlers on being snakebitten?  Bigger picture view (Is this a point gained or a point lost?).  Finding a positive to take from the game?
