Game 21: Jets 5 Avalanche 0 post-game recap

It was all coming up Winnipeg as they defeat the defending Stanley Cup champion Avalanche 5-0 to improve to 14-6-1 on the season.

For those who would like to take a deeper dive into the advanced stats click here to see the results from the game via Natural Stat Trick.

Notable:

It happened prior to puck drop but had they not gotten the zamboni off the ice there may not have been a game. See it here (Photo 1, Photo 2, Photo 3 & Photo 4).

The warm-up skate was all about HockeyFightsCancer and that was exemplified by Blake Wheeler giving this young survivor a puck.

Brandon, Manitoba’s Ryan White & his son Gordie were at Canada Life on #HockeyFightsCancer night. Ryan spent many years on the ice in NHL (two years here with Moose). Really happy to see his son doing well. His dad was always a great fighter but this kid’s showing he’s a huge fighter.

Josh Morrissey has 20 assists in 21 games for Winnipeg. An interesting stat from NHL PR indicated that 44 required the fewest games in franchise history to get to 20. It was previously held by Dustin Byfuglien (25 games).

With the secondary assist on the first goal by Winnipeg, Pierre-Luc Dubois hit 100 points as a member of the Winnipeg Jets. He has 46G 54A in this his 143rd game in a Jets uniform.

We often talk about the vision of Cole Perfetti and the primary assist on the third Jets goal was just next level anticipation. He knew he was going to Blake Wheeler the entire time. He knew it. We knew it. Avs netminder Alexandar Georgiev did not know it. Through 40 minutes he had 5 of the Jets 14 shots.

Dylan DeMelo with a three game streak with an assist in each of his last three games.

Big night for Blake Wheeler who picked up his fourth hat trick of his career and third as a member of the Jets organization.

Netminder Connor Hellebuyck picked up his 31st shutout of his career.

Multi Point Game:

Blake Wheeler 3G 1A
Mark Scheifele 1G 2A
Cole Perfetti 3A
Josh Morrissey 1G 1A
