Recap:
Jets goalie Steve Mason had a hell of a performance in the net with 38 saves coming 12 days after his last game (a 4-1 win over Coyotes in Arizona). The Jets veteran netminder is now playing the way many expected at the beginning of the season. He has faced 69 shots against his last two games and allowed just one goal in each contest.
The Jets opened the scoring late in the 1st courtesy of a nice effort by Adam Lowry to stick with a bouncing puck which he guided past Jonathan Quick with eight seconds to go in the opening frame. Nikolaj Ehlers fed Patrik Laine late in the 2nd on a tee and the Jets sniper had no problems scoring on the power play. The Jets did give up a power play goal themselves when Tyler Toffoli got inside Tyler Myers and re-directed a Oscar Fantenberg shot from the point past Steve Mason.
With the win tonight the Jets (13-5-3) leapfrogged back into 2nd in the central over the Predators, who had briefly taken over that spot when they beat Montreal earlier in the day. Winnipeg gets back to their winning ways after a tough loss in Nashville on Monday and have now won five of their last six games which included the first ever regulation win for the Jets/Thrashers in L.A. at Staples Center.
