The Jets couldn’t continue the momentum from Thursday’s 5-1 season opening win and instead lose by that same score tonight in Dallas.  Aside from Benn(2G 1A)/Seguin (2G 2A) putting on a show for the home crowd the most notable takeaway for the Jets was the number of power play goals they gave up (3).

For those who would like to take a deeper dive into the advanced stats here are the results from tonight’s game via Natural Stat Trick.

Notable:

– Unusual opening frame with fights and a disallowed shorthanded goal by Brandon Tanev;
– Kyle Connor had a great shift early in 2nd which ended with him ripping a shot past Bishop.

Numbers:

– Kyle Connor has two goals in the first 2 games of the season.

Audio:

Adam Lowry

Josh Morrissey

Brandon Tanev

Coach Maurice:  How did he see tonight’s game?  What kind of explanation did they get for the disallowed goal?  Did he consider challenging the disallowed goal?  What does he attribute the penalties to?  On the penalty kill tonight.  On the quality of chances they’ve given up in the first couple of games.  Thoughts on what he saw when he moved Ehlers up.
