What else but a poor 2nd period did in the Jets who were even with the Rangers after a fast-paced 1st period. But as I just indicated a disastrous middle frame haunted Winnipeg as they gave up four goals to New York (only getting one back). This means they’ve now been outscored 21-5 in that second period in 13 games. Hellebuyck was yanked after the fourth Rangers goal.
Mark Scheifele did have some success picking up a goal and assist in the loss which puts him tied with Steven Stamkos for fourth in the NHL in points. Nikolaj Ehlers was dynamic once again picking up an assist. Rookie Patrik Laine scored his eighth goal of the season (tied with Sidney Crosby for the league lead).
Jets finish the three game road trip 1-1-1. They return to Winnipeg to play the Stars on Tuesday night before heading back on the road.

Paul Maurice: How did he like his team’s effort? Thoughts on Hellebuyck’s performance? Laine’s soft hands with that deflection. Getting three out of six points, how does he judge that result?
