The Flames came out hot to start the game and despite a quick counter by Patrik Laine the visitors continued to pour it on and couldn’t be doused by the home side. However the middle frame was a different story as the Jets doused the heat that the Flames were bringing scoring early courtesy of Mark Schefiele and then going with a five forward configuration on a 5 on 3 which tied the game courtesy of Kyle Connor. Patrik Laine didn’t look like a player who had forgotten the play-in series as he was chirping in mid season form and even throwing haymakers to defend his teammate. The Jets continued to push in the final frame but Flames goalie Jacob Markstrom made some phenomenal saves to send this game to overtime. However Patrik Laine was a man possessed and he scored the OT winner to give the Jets a 4-3 win over the Flames.
