The Jets dominated the game for long stretches of time in Calgary to kick off the regular season but the Flames, courtesy of the play of their netminder Jacob Markstrom were able to hold on for the 5-3 win over Winnipeg.
Notable:

Welcome to the team Alex Iafallo as one of the newest Jets players scored in his first game wearing his new uniform.
The quest for Mark Scheifele to repeat match/surpass his 40+ goal campaign from last season got off to a good start as he scored a beauty in game one of the regular season.
While the power play went 0/4 they created plenty of chances and head coach Rick Bowness spoke about that post-game.
