Illegal Curve has confirmed through Ed Tait and Gary Lawless of the Winnipeg Free Press that the Winnipeg Jets have signed Winnipeg-born defenseman Derek Meech, 27, to a one-year, two-way contract, winger Tanner Glass to a one-year deal and centre Aaron Gagnon to a one-year deal.
Meech’s contract is worth $700,000 in the National Hockey League and $105,000 in the American Hockey League. Meech is a former Red Deer Rebel (Western Hockey League) who spent last season playing for Grand Rapids in The American Hockey League. Meech won The Stanley Cup with The Detroit Red Wings in 2008.
Tanner Glass, a grinding forward who played for The Vancouver Canucks this past season, was signed to a one-year, $750,000 contract. Glass, a native of Saskatchewan, was originally drafted by The Florida Panthers.

Aaron Gagnon, a centre, played last season in the Dallas Stars organization, spending a significant amount of time playing for the Stars’ farm team, The Texas Stars of The American Hockey League.
