Might Captain Serious be an option to bring his Stanley Cup pedigree to his home province?
Former Hawks captain Jonathan Toews, who is 36, hasn’t played an NHL game since April 13, 2023 when he concluded the 2022-23 season with Chicago having played 53 games.
The Winnipeg product led the Blackhawks to three Stanley Cups (2010, 2013 and 2015) but stopped playing hockey due to “long COVID and chronic immune response syndrome”. He has recently completed a detox in India which he detailed in this article from GQ.
Which is where insider Frank Seravalli of Daily Faceoff comes into the equation. This evening on the coast to coast broadcast with Andi Petrillo he was asked about Captain Serious who he said was back skating again. Now he did indicate he wasn’t certain if Toews interest was to comeback for this season or not.
But Frank thereafter listed the Jets along with the Leafs and Avs as the three teams to “keep an eye on”.
