Former Winnipeg Jets winger Tyler Toffoli signs with the San Jose Sharks

The Jets acquired Tyler Toffoli from the New Jersey Devils during the trade deadline to bolster their top six in what they hoped would be a long playoff run. Of course Winnipeg would last just five games against Colorado before being eliminated. The price of the acquisition was a 2nd rounder in 2025 and a 3rd rounder in 2024.

Toffoli played 18 regular season games with Winnipeg scoring seven goals and four assists. In five playoff games he had two goals and two assists. While he found some success with the Jets it seemed clear that he’d be testing free agency when the time came.

This morning Kevin Weekes of ESPN reported that Toffoli would be signing with the Sharks which returns the 2010 2nd rounder to California where he began his NHL career with the Kings but a bit farther north in San Jose. Chris Johnston of TSN is reporting it is four-year deal with carrying a $6M AAV.
