Former Winnipeg Jets defenceman Nate Schmidt signs with Florida Panthers

After being bought out by the Jets on Sunday and then clearing waivers on Monday former Winnipeg defenceman Nate Schmidt has a new hockey home.

Frank Seravalli of Daily Faceoff is reporting that it’s a one-year deal worth 800K AAV with the defending Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers.
