Former Winnipeg Jets captain Blake Wheeler joining NYR in Hockey Ops advisory role

After playing close to 1200 NHL games former Jets captain Blake Wheeler, who made his retirement from hockey official about two months ago, will be staying in the game in a new role with the New York Rangers.

He had been doing a bit of a media tour the last little bit and today the Rangers announced some Hockey Operations staff updates including the news that Wheeler has been named an advisor. The team didn’t provide any insight into specifics of this role but it really comes as no surprise that the Minnesotan is staying connected to the game of hockey.
