Former Winnipeg Jets assistant coach Brad Lauer hired as head coach of Spokane Chiefs

Back on May 27th when the Jets were announcing Scott Arniel as their new head coach, GM Kevin Cheveldayoff also advised that assistant coach Brad Lauer and he had spoken and the two sides agreed to part ways.

Lauer was hired from junior hockey where he had spent four years with the Edmonton Oil Kings including winning a championship in 2021-22. He joined Winnipeg the following season and was in place as an assistant for two seasons.

Unfortunately for Lauer the power play of the Jets sputtered last season.

He returns to junior hockey and the WHL as the Spokane Chiefs announced he would be their new head coach on Thursday.
