Former Winnipeg Ice head coach James Patrick named Victoria Royals head coach

When the Winnipeg Ice left the province for  Wenatchee, Washington to become the  Wenatchee Wild they essentially left everything behind in Manitoba except for the players.

Back in August it was announced by the Victoria Royals that Patrick would be joining them as Director of Player Development where his “his primary responsibilities will be assisting in developing future National Hockey League players”.

Just under 2.5 months later he is now the head coach in Victoria. The Royals are off to an 8-7-0-1 start which has them sitting in 6th place in the Western Division of the WHL.

He replaces long-time head coach Dan Price who had been at the helm for the last seven reasons in B.C.
