The Jets signed Mikey Eyssimont to a two-year, two-way deal back in July of 2021. The Colorado product signed with Winnipeg after he wasn’t qualified by Los Angeles (the team that drafted him in the 5th round of the 2016 draft) because he felt there was an NHL opportunity for him with the Jets.
He spent his first season playing most for the Moose of the AHL although he did make his NHL debut for Winnipeg on April 11th against the Canadiens in Montreal.
His NHL total increased to 19 games for the Jets during the 2022-23 season including scoring his first goal in the NHL. Back in January with the Jets getting healthy he was placed on waivers (ironically ahead of a game against the Lighting). He was claimed by San Jose who played him for 20 games with them and where he scored three goals and added five assists. However, at the trade deadline they flipped him to Tampa for Vladislav Namestnikov.
Of course as Jets fans know Vladislav Namestnikov was thereafter flipped to Winnipeg for a 4th round pick in 2025.
Today the Lightning announced that the hard-working and tenacious forward had signed a two-year, one-way deal with them that has an AAV of $800,000. He played 15 games for Tampa as well as three playoff contests (and scored a goal in the post-season).
Thoughts on the big 5-0 win.
