After blowing a 3-0 lead on Friday night the Moose were looking to bounce back tonight in the Teddy Bear Toss game as they close out six games at home.
Lineup news:
No surprise given how he left the game last night but Jets prospect Elias Salomonsson was not available to play in the game this evening. On the other side of the coin it was big to see Jets 2021 1st rounder Chaz Lucius playing in his first back-to-back of the season which is another sign his ankle is feeling good.
Lines & D pairs:
Suess – Toninato – JAD
AJF -Lucius – Ford
Shaw – King – Chibrikov
Liwiski -Conley – Empey
Sautner – Lundmark
Anhorn – Barteaux
Kuzmin – Bauer
Milic
Notable:
The 4th line got things started just over four minutes into the 1st period of play as Kevin Conley picked up his second goal of the season to make it a 1-0 game.
Jets prospect Chaz Lucius said on Thursday he was ready to play in back-to-back games and now he’s got goals in back-to-back games. His second of the season made it 2-0 for the Moose. He’s gonna be worth watching folks…
Nikita Chibrikov couldn’t let his draft classmate and fellow Winnipeg prospect have all the fun as he scored his fifth of the season to make it 3-0 for the Moose just 1:17 after Lucius scored.
Regardless of outcome one winner from tonight’s Moose game were the children of Winnipeg who will receive stuffed animals for Christmas from their fellow Manitobans after the teddy bear toss.
Would a 3-0 lead once again prove to be the new “worst lead in hockey”? Since you read the headline then you know the answer is yes as Belleville scored a pair in the middle frame to make it a one goal game and then former Moose forward Wyatt Bongiovanni ripped home the game tying goal with the goalie pulled and a minute left on the clock.
Manitoba goalie Thomas Milic made seven saves in overtime which pushed the game into a shootout where the Moose would go 0/3 as Nikita Chibrikov, Chaz Lucius and Ben King couldn’t score which gave the Senators a 4-3 win.
With the shootout loss the Moose fall to 6-12-0-1.
