Final Day of the Winnipeg Jets 2025-26 training camp

The Jets are back on the ice today following a day off on Saturday. The big question marks will be whether Jonathan Toews is ready to resume skating with the group after tweaking something on Tuesday and being listed as day-to-day since that time and the extent of the Cole Perfetti injury now that the team has had a chance to evaluate him following his 2nd period mishap in Calgary on Friday night.

Some consider training camp wrapped up with the final preseason game but given the team is not yet compliant with the 23-man roster requirements and given they are off tomorrow this is as good a day as any to be considered the last day of training camp.

Skate news:

As per radio colour analyst Mitchell Clinton the answer to the above questions (in part) is Jonathan Toews is taking part in today’s skate and Cole Perfetti is not. Also he indicated that Dylan DeMelo is skating after he left in the 1st period after taking a stick to the throat although the update after the game from Arniel seemed to indicate it was more precautionary than anything. Now we will have to wait and see what sort of health update head coach Scott Arniel provides. Mitch also provides the lines and D pairs below.

Murat Ates of The Athletic Winnipeg adds some more details indicating Walker Duehr isn’t skating which isn’t a big surprise as he is expected to be put on waivers and be sent to the Moose (provided he clears). As well he wrote that recently extended prospect Nikita Chibrikov is wearing a dark blue jersey as opposed the light blue sported by David Gustafsson, Brad Lambert and Parker Ford.

Projected lines and D pairs:

Connor-Scheifele-Vilardi
Nyquist-Toews-Chibrikov
Niederreiter-Namestnikov-Iafallo
Koepke-Barron-Pearson
Gustafsson-Ford-Lambert

Morrissey-DeMelo
Fleury-Pionk
Stanley-Schenn
Heinola-Miller

Hellebuyck
Comrie

Waivers:

As the Jets get down to roster compliance the team made an expected move and also one that was not as they placed Walker Duehr and Ville Heinola on it today. That leaves them with 24 healthy players on the roster with one (or two if they choose a 22-man roster) left to make.

Health Update:

Tough news on Cole Perfetti who Scott Arniel indicated is out week-to-week with an ankle injury.

Up next:

The team is off on Monday and will begin regular season practices this week as they get ready for the Thursday home opener against Dallas.
