Ex-Winnipeg Jet Thomas Steen to enter politics

From winnipegfreepress.com

Longtime Winnipeg Jet centre Thomas Steen will play right wing in the next federal election.

Sources confirmed yesterday the Jets legend will run as a Conservative candidate in Elmwood-Transcona, a seat potentially up for grabs since long-time NDP MP Bill Blaikie will be retiring.

Steen is to formally announce his intentions Friday to coincide with Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s election call expected this weekend.

Regardless if you’re a Liberal, a New Democrat, or a Conservative, how could you not vote for one of the best Swedish-born hockey players of all time and one of only two players (Bobby Hull being the other) to have their numbers retired as a Jet at the old Winnipeg Arena.
