The Manitoba Moose are currently in Ottawa riding a 12 game points streak (10-0-02) and still have three games remaining before their AHL season concludes. However as we reported on Tuesday Jets 2020 1st rounder Cole Perfetti who had an unexpectedly (because he would normally be in the OHL) excellent first year in pro hockey, had his AHL season cut short. That is because he caught the eye of Team Canada ahead of the World Championships in Latvia and will be heading overseas with them for the tournament.
Which meant that instead of suiting up last night with his Moose teammates in a game against the Senators (of Belleville) he was heading back home to Whitby, Ontario to spend some time with his family before boarding a plane on Friday to head to New Jersey and thereafter to Latvia.
He’ll finish his first year as a pro with nine goals 17 assists for 26 points in 32 games.
We had a chance to speak with him today to reflect on this opportunity with Team Canada, his first year as a pro and more.
