End of 2023-24 season Manitoba Moose media availability | Ashton Sautner

Born in Flin Flon, Manitoba we heard from defenceman Ashton Sautner, who now calls Alberta home during the offseason, after he completed his second full season with the Moose.

It was a one-year deal with the Jets which saw him play 65 games for the Moose as he helped guide the next generation of prospect Dmen. He spent a lot of time with 2020 6th rounder Tyrel Bauer but also alongside 2019 2nd rounder Simon Lundmark and even recent college signee Dylan Anhorn.

There’s a reason he was named an alternate captain.

He set a new career high for goals as he potted five this season which matched his total in his previous two seasons (109 games). His second of the year was an OT GWG in a wild 6-5 affair against the Stars but his biggest goal was the fifth one in the New Year’s Eve game which set a new career high for him and also won 7669 Manitobans free pancakes.

He reflected on the season that was for the Moose, team pulling itself out of an 11-game losing streak to secure a playoff spot, his play/development, growth in Tyrel Bauer, seeing Lambert & Chibrikov making their NHL debuts and playing in his home province.
