Over on Sportsnet the Conference Finals are underway and NHL insider Elliotte Friedman was asked about the Jets pending UFAs and RFAs. He focused on two RFAs (Dylan Samberg & Gabriel Vilardi) and one UFA (Nikolaj Ehlers) as well as mentioning Kyle Connor who is eligible to sign an extension on July 1st.
He wondered whether they could get all four done.
With regards to Ehlers he indicated “I understand he’s going to sit down and think about it” but referenced how Nikolaj was seventh amongst Jets forwards for 5 on 5 time on ice during the playoffs. “Is he going to be OK with that?”. Might he get a better opportunity elsewhere?
He went on to say he expects Samberg to get done, doesn’t have any reason to think Vilardi would be a huge problem and feels like Connor is going to command a “big number”.
