On today’s Jeff Marek Show a discussion between Marek and Elliotte Friedman turned to Pierre-Luc Dubois with Marek asking Friedman if there was any more momentum there and if he could see the Jets RFA centre being moved before the Draft (July 7th/8th) or whether it will be a longer term play for Winnipeg.
Friedman responded:
“I think Winnipeg first is gonna want to get it’s coach done. I think they’ve been focusing on that this week. I do think after the news came out they got some calls and things like that ‘what are you thinking there, what are you going to do?’. Like I said, the thing that I get the most is that Cheveldayoff is patient and he will do what he needs to do which he thinks is the best for his team. Someone told me don’t expect a rush judgement there.”
Marek also asked Friedman about the timeline for a coach. He did say Boston pick for bench boss could be known today. That is interesting from a Jets perspective as it could eliminate one of the options (Jim Montgomery) for Winnipeg. Friedman added:
“…Winnipeg definitely accelerated its timeline this week now that it has certainty on Trotz. I do believe they’ve begun moving in their second round of interviews and are getting closer….”
