The Jets will be getting a major boost tonight in Seattle. Head coach Scott Arniel confirmed after the morning skate that Dylan Samberg is set to make his regular-season debut.
When head coach Scott Arniel spoke about Samberg’s return, he emphasized how important the defenceman is to their lineup. “Huge. Anytime you don’t have pieces of your top four defence it can be hard. At the end of the day you know what he does, both five-on-five going up against the other team’s top lines and what he does on the penalty kill. He’s a player that certainly we missed. Like a few other guys that have been out of the lineup, it’s great to have him back and nice to get him going.”

Samberg broke his wrist in what was described as a “freak accident” during the fourth exhibition game in late September. Late in the second period. The expectation was he would be out 6-8 weeks.
Two days ago, he switched to a regular uniform. Now, he’s ready to play his first game of the season.
Samberg’s return should provide a welcome boost for a Jets team in need of his shut down role both at 5 on 5 and on the penalty kill.
The date and opponent is now set.
