Dylan Coghlan clears waivers; Winnipeg Jets can assign him to the Manitoba Moose

The Jets put right-shot defenceman Dylan Coghlan on waivers on Wednesday as they make some lineup room and also try to get a player who has languished in the pressbox and who could use some much needed playing time in the minors with the Moose. Coghlan has only played one NHL game for Winnipeg which was a very solid one for him against Vegas back on November 29th.

With the clock striking 1 PM CT this afternoon we have learned via Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet that he has cleared waivers.

He would provide a very solid addition to a Moose defence that has struggled (to put it mildly) this season, especially with the loss of RD Jets prospect Elias Salomonsson to an upper-body injury earlier this month.

Manitoba faces Rockford tomorrow night in Winnipeg for the final two-game set before Christmas. The good news for the AHL club is that Salomonsson is expected back “right after Christmas” which will really boost the team defence.
