From Helene Elliot’s column in the L.A. Times: “‘I’m really hoping that I play’ for L.A., Doughty said Monday during a visit to Joe Louis Arena to watch the Red Wings’ and Penguins’ game-day skates. ‘They were actually my favorite team growing up and I looked up to Wayne Gretzky as a little kid. Playing there would be a dream come true.'”

Later on in the article, Kings GM Dean Lombardi admits the Kings will most certainly be taking a defenseman with the second overall pick in this summer’s entry draft. Therefore, the pick is believed to be between Doughty and Zach Bogosian. It does not look like the team can go wrong with that pick because both defenseman are very highly touted. Personally, I have seen more of Doughty than Bogosian and I have to say I was impressed with what I saw. As an underage defenseman at the World Junior Championships, the kid was dynamite with the puck and skated extremely well. With such a need on defense, the Kings look primed to add another young talented player to an already young talent-laden roster.
