It’s been one month since Jets head coach Rick Bowness took a leave of absence from the hockey club after his wife Judy suffered a seizure.
Last night during the 1st period on the Sportsnet broadcast colour commentator John Garrett said “I’m sure my friend Rick Bowness is watching this from Florida, saying Ok five minutes get out of this with at least a 2-0 lead.”. This was was really the first we had heard about the bench boss in Winnipeg during the last four weeks as he stays with his wife during her recovery.
Following the win last night, Adam Lowry alluded to the fact that the team would have a day off in Sunrise rather than practicing. As per Darren Dreger of TSN one of the things happening today is:
“The Winnipeg Jets with some down time today in Florida. Looking forward to a quick meeting with Rick Bowness who’s been away from the club the past month on a leave of absence. Bones is a well liked and highly respected man.”
Good to hear that the team will get a chance to see and catch up with Rick Bowness.
