The Red Wings signed tough-guy right wing Aaron Downey to a one-year contract today.

Downey won’t play every game for the Wings, but he provides extra toughness and will stick up for his teammates when needed. The Wings do well here by not signing the enforcer to more than a one-year contract.
He's closing in on his first game since January 13th.
