Dreger: Patrik Laine might miss a few games, but sense is injury isn’t long term

While the Jets are simply jockeying for playoff position the big race fans have been watching was the one for the Rocket Richard Trophy.  Alex Ovechkin is gunning for his seventh Rocket Richard win while sophomore sniper Patrik Laine sits one behind him for the league lead.  This chase plus Laine’s 15 game point streak came to a crashing end when the Finnish star blocked an Alec Martinez shot last night in the Jets game against the Kings.

All eyes were on the tunnel leading to the Jets room for the rest of the 2nd period until Jets PR indicated that Laine would not be returning for the rest of the game.

The Jets are off today so no updates were expected however Darren Dreger of TSN has indicated:

While fans might be dissapointed to see the sniper miss a few games the fact that he won’t be lost long term is good news for the Jets, especially as they gear up for what they hope will be a long playoff run.
