From Steve Gorten of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel:

Martin said Bouwmeester will not be traded. The same can’t be said of center Olli Jokinen.

Martin said the captain’s future is up in the air.”We haven’t made the playoffs here, so bottom line is we’re looking to improve our hockey club,” Martin said. “Is that with Olli back here or Olli not back here? I don’t know at this point in time.”

Jokinen’s name has been in and out of trade rumors for a couple of years. By reading closely, it appears Martin will be shopping Jokinen, or at least listening to trade offers. I believe Jokinen is a horse and a player that many teams will covet. Even though he hasn’t made the playoffs since breaking into the NHL, I don’t think that will make teams shy away from attempting to acquire him. The fact is, it is hard to come by big, strong centers who can control the play along the boards and generally don’t get injured.
