Cole Perfetti reflects on his role in the Manitoba Miracle for the Winnipeg Jets

The ‘Manitoba Miracle’ as it came to be known was a moment in time that will be etched in the hockey memory of this province forever. When Cole Perfetti tied the game with 1.6 seconds left (eventually they changed it to 2.2) in the 3rd period of Game 7 in the first round series with the Blues the pop inside Canada Life Centre was like nothing we’ve ever heard in a building known for being loud.

Sportsnet even did a feature on it which you can watch here. Check out what it looked and sounded like for our photog Colby Spence who was ice level.

With the Jets packing up following their second round exit to the Stars we heard from the Ontario product about his role scoring the game tying goal.

“It was a special game to be a part of. I was able to put it in but there was so much that went into that outside of me, whether it was just that play between Lows and Fly and KC or whether it was the whole game down 3-1 and we were in the fight and never gave up. I think that was just special to be a part of that game. Talking to neighbours and some people at the grocery store or whatever and they were saying, people that were at the game saying ‘It was the greatest moment of their life’. To be able to hear that and be a part of that, it’s special. You see how much this team means to this community, to this city. Winnipeg bleeds hockey and bleeds the Jets and we’re so lucky that we have fans like that. That are so passionate, so supportive of us. I mean I’ve never heard a building that loud. It was the craziest thing. I wish I would have remembered it a little better. I kinda blacked out during that whole thing, so I don’t really remember it, but yeah that was pretty special and to be able to do it at home in front of these fans, we’re lucky players to have this fan base and support group.”.

Quite the memory of the 2024-25 season for him and for fans in Winnipeg. Likely goes down as one of the biggest NHL moments in Jets history.
