Cole Perfetti leaves final Winnipeg Jets exhibition game with lower-body injury

The Jets are already down Dylan Samberg (broken wrist, 6-8 weeks) and Jonathan Toews (day-to-day) so the hope for Scott Arniel and his coaching staff heading into the final game of the preseason in Calgary was likely to get through it unscathed.

That would not come to be as defenceman Dylan DeMelo would take a stick to the neck in the 1st period. He left the game and did not return. The good news for the team is head coach Scott Arniel called it precautionary.

However in the middle frame just as time was set to expire Cole Perfetti went to finish a check and his right left goes awkwardly beneath him. You can see as he gets up that he’s testing the leg.

After the game here was the update from Scott Arniel:

“With Perfetti lower-body injury. We gotta get him home here. First glance doesn’t look great. We’ll see when we get home. Hopefully it’s not as bad as we’re hoping.”

With less than a week before the regular season we shall see if Perfetti is able to shake it off or if this costs the young forward some time.
