Coach Paul Maurice confirms Mathieu Perreault close to returning to lineup

Following practice in Pittsburgh today Jets bench boss Paul Mauirce confirmed that Mathieu Perreault could be available to play for Winnipeg in tomorrow night’s game against the Penguins.  He qualified this by saying that they would re-evaluate Perreault before confirming he is in the lineup.

In his post-practice scrum he told the assembled media that “He looked fine out there. We are going to give it the day.  Experience tells you that anybody coming off injuries gets to skate once and we will see how he is doing tomorrow”. We should know tomorrow following pre-game skate if the centre turned winger will be back on the 2nd line with Frolik and Scheifele.

The initial speculation when he sustained the injury in the team’s 4-2 win over Chicago on January 16th was a fracture, although this was then modified and it was believed that he would only miss the two games prior to the AllStar game.
