Recap:
The Moose held a 12-8 shot advantage over the Checkers after 20 minutes but neither team could beat the opposing goalie. However Charlotte took two late penalties which gave Manitoba a 5 on 3 to start the middle frame. The Moose were able to convert on the first chance when Kyle Connor took a Dan DeSalvo pass for a 1-0 lead. Then just as the second penalty expired a shot from the point by Moose defenceman Kevin Czuczman tipped off a Charlotte defender to give Manitoba a 2-0 lead. However it was short lived as Charlotte scored back-to-back goals in nine seconds to tie the game. It was a see-saw contest for the remainder of the game with neither team really seizing control of the game. 60 minutes wasn’t enough so it was off to OT where a Jimmy Lodge misstep resulted in a Checkers 2 on 1 and ended the game with Charlotte scoring three straight to win the game.
