It was an electric atmosphere inside Bell MTS Place for game 1 of the Jets Stanley Cup Round 1 series against the Wild. And just outside the doors on Donald Street there was an incredible street party that simply added to the atmosphere of excitement in Winnipeg. Prior to puck drop we were getting pictures of the festivities as fans took the party to the next level.
Economic Development Winnipeg deserves huge kudos for putting on, what appeared to us in the building, as a phenomenal outdoor party in downtown Winnipeg. Even walking down to the dressing room after the game we could see (and hear) the fans partying following the Jets win.
Today they announced some changes ahead of game 2 which goes Friday night at 6 pm at Bell MTS Place which include:
1. Start time is now 4:30 pm
2. It has now extended even further south going all the way to St. Mary (last night it went to Graham).
3. They’ve added a family-friendly alcohol-free zone at Millennium Library Park, where young families can watch the game live in a more relaxed setting.
4. An additional viewing screen is being added on Donald Street, south of Graham Avenue, and another screen will be at Millennium Library Park. This brings the total number of viewing screens at the Street Party to four.
5. They are increasing the number of vendors.
