Balsillie’s potential seventh franchise– particularly one in southern Ontario– might decrease the chances of being denied a Canadian series for Saturday nights during the first round of the playoffs. So add CBC to the list of everyone– minus Bettman– who sees the logic in Balsillie’s plans.

Dowbiggen is right. There is no way that CBC wouldn’t be on board with having another team in Canada, never mind in Southern Ontario.  It appears this move has a fair amount of support behind the scenes, but that does not mean it gets done; it looks like there is going to be a big battle ahead.
