From Tarik El-Bashir of the Washington Post:

The team just announced that it will retire Mike Garnter’s No. 11 jersey during a pregame cermony before the Toronto game on Dec. 28.

Gartner, a Hall of Famer who ranks second in franchise history in goals (397), assists (392) and points (789) will be the fourth Cap to have his number retired. (Rod Langway, Yvon Labre and Dale Hunter are the others.)

Gartner was one of the most dependable forwards of his generation.  His impressive point totals with the Capitals merit his jersey being raised to the rafters.
