Capitals sign Theodore

Washington signs UFA G Jose Theodore to a 2 year deal (undisclosed)

One question: Why? Theodore is a downgrade from Cristobal Huet and is not consistent enough for a young team. His inconsistency was better managed by the veteran Avs last season. I don’t particularly understand this signing.
