Capitals Dmitry Orlov suspended two games for kneeing of Winnipeg Jets Nikolaj Ehlers

In the 3rd period of last night’s game in Washington the Caps Dmitry Orlov went knee-on-knee with Jets forward Nikolaj Ehlers. It didn’t look good for the nimble forward who left the ice in pain and left for the dressing room almost immediately after he got back to the bench.

If you didn’t see the hit here it is:

Player Safety announced that Orlov would have a hearing for the hit on Ehlers and they announced this evening that Orlov would be suspended two games. Here was the explanation:

This will prove to be small solace for the Jets and Ehlers who is set to miss the next three games on the road and was being further evaluated this afternoon in Nashville so could be quite a bit more than this road trip.
