From Adrian Dater of the Denver Post:

NHL free agency is a week away, and there still has been no contact between the Avs and Andrew Brunette. Translation: He ain’t comin’ back.

Just got off the phone with Brunette’s agent, Don Reynolds, and he said the Avs have yet to even call him about anything regarding the potential unrestricted Brunette.

Read more notes about the Avs from Dater here.

Players like Andrew Brunette always seem to slip through the cracks. He has been more valuable to the Avalanche over the past couple years than most think. Brunette has never been fast, but his work along the boards, good hands and nose for the net make him a solid and reasonable signing after July 1.
