An NHL source confirmed Sportsnet’s report that Dennis Wideman has signed a new deal with the Bruins, avoiding the arbitration hearing scheduled for Aug. 1.
Wideman has signed a four-year extension, although the source couldn’t confirm the amount of the defenseman’s contract. GM Peter Chiarelli said there is no update on Wideman’s contract.
