Breaking news: Winnipeg Jets acquire Lee Stempniak from Rangers

While Jets fans were celebrating the Jets holding a big lead over the LA Kings, Bob McKenzie of TSN announced that the Jets acquired Lee Stempniak from the Rangers.

In 53 games so far this season he has nine goals and nine assists.

Stempniak has worn 22 or 12 throughout his NHL career but with those numbers being worn by Thorburn and Stafford we will likely see the newest Jets player wearing new numbers.

Going back the other way in the deal was Carl Klingberg who has been playing for the St. John’s IceCaps for the most part this season.

Jets Release:

The Winnipeg Jets announced they have acquired forward Lee Stempniak from the New York Rangers in exchange for forward Carl Klingberg. The Jets also announced they have re-assigned forward Eric O’Dell to the St. John’s IceCaps.

In that time, he has scored 359 points (159G, 200A) while collecting 251 penalty minutes. The native of West Seneca, NY has also played in 24 Stanley Cup playoff games in his career, collecting five points (2G,3A) and six penalty minutes.
