As was just announced by the Winnipeg Jets, the team has agreed to terms with goalie Ondrej Pavelec to a  5 year deal.  While the team doesn’t disclose the terms, it was tweeted TSN’s Bob McKenzie as;

“Happy to be in Winnipeg. Looking forward to success in Winnipeg. Want to stay as long as you can in a city you like & I like WPG”

“Negotiation just a side of business. Agent did the best he can. It’s business–it’s a process. Never easy to make a deal.”

“Not hard to give up 2 years of UFA years in signing the 5 year deal. Was looking for a long contract. Easy to sign the deal.”

“Everyone knew I had the offer from KHL but wanted to stay in WPG all along. Really good offer from KHL but wanted to be in WPG.”

“Big responsibility to become elite goaltender in NHL. Very excited for the chance to be best goalie in NHL in WPG.”

“Loved the fans last year in WPG. Loved being in Canada. Big family atmosphere in WPG. Feel really good in WPG.”

“Last few days negotiations picked up. Chevy wanted me to stay and I wanted to stay. Always believed I could get a deal in WPG.”

“I want to win. I want to be successful. Organisation is going in a good direction, that’s why I signed a 5 year deal.”
