BREAKING NEWS: “HOCKEY MOM” TO BE MCCAIN’S VP NOMINEE?

According to a number of news agencies, Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, a self-styled “hockey mom”, is Republican Presidential candidate John McCain’s choice for Vice President.

The official announcement is set for sometime early this afternoon. The Republican convention begins on Monday in the XCEL Energy Center, home of the Minnesota Wild. The Democrats had their convention this week in Colorado’s Pepsi Center, home of the Avalanche, who defeated the Wild in the first round of last year’s playoffs. Look to see if the karma sticks.

Palin is 44 years old, or as Chris Chelios put it, “really, really young.”

 Meanwhile, there is no word yet on whether Palin, if elected VP  will push for a policy requiring ESPN to show more than 8 seconds of nightly coverage of the NHL.  But either way, one has to wonder whether a “hockey mom” is really something the all important middle-America red state electorate demographic can relate to……
