According to TSN:

Martin Brodeur‘s assault on the record book will be put on hold as the Devils’ goalkeeper will undergo elbow surgery and will be out of the lineup for up to four months.

“This Thursday morning, Martin Brodeur will undergo surgery to repair the distal bicep in the left elbow,” Devils president, CEO and general manager Lou Lamriello said in a statement.

“We will not have any further comment or update until after the surgery is complete.”

Wow.  Terrible news for the Devils, as Brodeur is the main key to their team success.  The legendary netminder has carried the team for over a decade and really has shown no signs of slowing down, unfortunately this elbow injury will be the first time the great netminder will miss serious time due to injury.  Without Brodeur, the Devils become just another team and may very well find themselves on the outside of the playoff race.  The importance of this injury can’t be understated in terms of the Devils’ hopes.
