From TSN.ca:
Sources tell TSN that Brent Sutter is in the final stages on the details of an agreement to become the next head coach of the Calgary Flames.
He is expected to be named in the near future.
Sutter stepped down as head coach of the New Jersey Devils on June 9th, citing personal and family reasons, but at the time there was speculation that he would eventually move into the vacant Flames head coaching position.

Is anyone actually surprised by this?? I think his hiring could be a very good move for the Flames (I am interested in what the compensation will be for the Devils) although it would be interesting to be at a Sutter family dinner if the Flames don’t get off to a hot start. Brings us back to the days when Darryl was the head coach in Chicago and Brent was a player on that team. Of course Brent’s tenure as a player (7 seasons) lasted longer than Darryl’s did (3 seasons) as Hawks heach coach. Expectations in Calgary are high and 1st round playoff exits are not acceptable.
